I bought the Clarks Roar boots at a store in the mall and am very happy with the purchase. I wanted something that could still be worn to work with khakis but also be aggressive enough to wear out in the snow/bad weather. The Roars fit the bill exactly. Lately ive been wearing them when I ride my motorcycle and theyve kept my feet warm and protected from the elements. My only complaints about the boot are that they scuff fairly easily. I purchased the weatherproofing glaze from the Clarks store which restores the leather to a nice sheen however after a day or two out youll notice a bunch of scuff marks. Also after two weeks of wearing them a small chunk of the corner began to separate from the the heel. I took it back to the store and was told that this is normal. I didnt agree with the sales person and he said if it completely comes off I could bring it back for an exchange. A year later the little corner still hasnt ripped off but its still a distraction. Overall I still really like the shoe and would recommend it to other buyers. I purchased a pair of Clarks Roar Boot in Black just before Christmas 2008 and began using it intermittently with 2 other pairs of Timberline boots. I only use these boots during the Winter months in the Chicagoland area as we have plenty of snow here. I do not use them once Spring arrives. Notice that I do not wear the Clarks Roar Boots a lot since I have 2 pairs of some other boots to use.All the same the sole of the Roar Boots specially by the heels are deteriorating at a rate that I find troublesome given the price of the boots and the reputation of Clarks products. The material used apparently is substandard.Most often times Western manufacturers either set up Chinese manufacturing operations with design of the plant and Western management team utilizing Chinese workforce. In other instances Western companies subcontract to Chinese manufacturers by sharing the designs and specifications and ask the Chinese to deliver products to specs. I dont know what happened here but the material used to make my boots are unacceptable as they do not stand up to light use in Chicago Winter. I really like these boots. Theyre comfortable stylish and rugged enough to be used in a variety of conditions. Also a nice benefit is that theyre suprisingly lightweight. My one complaint is that theyre a little too wide for my foot. I have a standard width foot (I think!) and these boots are definitely wider than Id like them to be. If I were to order them again Id opt for a narrower width instead of the standard (M) width. Overall a good boot at a decent price.

Materials are first class, has an attractive design and ankle support is pretty good. I chose the "oily brown" model and it looks very well, almost like the picture. For being a boot, it is truly comfortable and feels almost like a shoe. If you're planning it for heavy duty activities, then you should reconsider this option(i find the outer get scratched somewhat easily). Overall a good product, i would highly recommend it for casual/urban wear purposes.
