Clarks Desert Lace-Up Boot Review
I have always considered Clarks to be among the best as far as comfort. Upon receiving these Desert boots I was greatly disappointed. There was not the usual cushiony softness or the arch support. I teach and am on my feet all day. I would not have been able to wear these all day. there is NO support at all whatsoever! I bought these shoes for my 93 year old mother who struggles with arthritis and has trouble walking. With these shoes she can put them on herself (versus struggling with laces) and is walking better than ever. I wanted a simple leather boot that would go with casual wear & these definitely fit the bill. I love the look of these - they are a nice clean classic style. They are definitely up to the standard of Clarks high quality and the beeswax leather looks very nice (pretty much how it looks in the pictures). I found them to need some break in before they got comfortable though (I ordered my normal size and medium width) - they were snug across the ball of the foot initially but after wearing them a few times this improved a lot. I definitely cant wear thick socks with them though. The crepe sole was not as cushy as I thought it would be but its not that bad really. Time will tell how durable the sole is but the leather seems like a good quality. Overall once you get them worn in a bit and conformed to your foot these are a pretty nice stylish boot. The boots are lovely classic and well made. The only complaint I have would be that they are incredibly tough to break in. So much so that one of my heels is bruised. They are quite comfortable in other areas and once they are broken into there are no problems. No foot/heel is the same so I highly recommend them. I had looked and looked for a pair of desert style boots. I tried Lucky Brand Nine West and looked at DKNY. THESE are the ones classics are classics for a reason! Clarks started in 1956 and these boots stand the test of time. From the first time I put them on I knew Id made the right choice. They are true to size. If you are looking for casual shoes that can be worn with jeans or a skirt these are it do not hesitate. I was looking for old fashioned desert boots after reading that they were back in fashion in the New York Times. I am very happy with my selection. I did take some time to break them in as they seem to run a little bit small. If you are between sizes I suggest going one up. I was surprised that I could not find these in the Clark stores in my area. I bought these shoes because my Doctor told me to get some sturdy shoes to give my feet and legs support. I have trouble with my feet swelling and it is hard to find confortable shoes. These shoes are very comfortable and easy on my feet. They give me the support I need. I am very satisfied with them.
